Last week I travelled back to the town I grew up near Strasbourg, to celebrate Bastille Day in France this week on July 14th. Each time I set foot in Strasbourg walking by the Cathedral, I realise how little time I took to visit beautiful places around me when I used to live there. Should I mention that my first step towards independence was residing in a flat a few steps from the Cathedral! Going to work every day I walked by thinking, I will visit another day! Does it sound familiar? It feels as because we walk by a monument, museum every day we take it for granted thinking I will visit another day until life takes over and you've moved away, to a different place.
Last Friday I went back to Strasbourg determined to play the tourist, walking around the city with "new eyes", looking around and up, visiting the inside of the Cathedral, walking along the River, taking the Batorama and navigate between the most beautiful buildings in Strasbourg! The Ancienne Douane, the covered bridges, the Vauban dam, The Palais du Rhin, Gallia, the European Parliament, the Palais des Droits de l'Homme and much more.
How often do you make time for your beautiful surroundings? You know that museum, exhibition you've got on your mind and thinking I will do it tomorrow? Don't wait book it now, set time aside in your agenda, escape the everyday, step into a new dimension be inspired by amazing artists and visionaries.
i.e Georgia O'Keeffe is at the Tate Modern until 31 October 2016, just book it here. Don't take your life for granted make the most of it, stop look around and see everything around with new eyes.
